Police: Bullet Found In White Plains High School

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- There will be a police presence at White Plains High School Friday after a janitor found a .22-caliber bullet while cleaning a classroom Wednesday night, Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said.

“We were notified Thursday morning and recovered the bullet, and are working with the schools to try and identify where it came from,” Chong said.

School officials searched the school and some lockers. The White Plains Police Department brought in a K-9 unit that is trained to detect weapons and explosives.

No other bullets or weapons were found and there are no open threats against the school, officials said. The police department is continuing to investigate the incident with the Board of Education.
