WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. For 121 exemplary White Plains Middle School students, Wednesday was no ordinary day of school.
By maintaining at least a 92 average in all of their classes throughout middle school, students from both the Eastview and Highlands campuses were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. An induction ceremony was held after school in the Highlands auditorium Wednesday, according to a notice sent by the school.
In addition to achieving scholastic excellence, these students also met citizenship, character, service and leadership requirements.
"The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students," according to the groups' website. "Membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service."
