Healthy Kids Day Takes Shape at White Plains Y

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Bring your children to the White Plains YMCA on Saturday, April 28, for a day of free activities designed to encourage healthy habits during the summer.

Healthy Kids Day is a national initiative that 1,900 participating YMCAs nation-wide hope will kick-start physical activity and learning for kids.

"At the White Plains YMCA we know that when the school year ends, many kids lose exposure to activities that keep them moving and learning," Linda Dilazzaro of the White Plains YMCA said in a press release.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to families from White Plains, Scarsdale, Rye Brook and Greenburgh. There will be several physical activities, including archery, frisbee and a bike track with tricycles and ride-on coupes. Additionally, there will be face painting and educational activities like "find the bones" on a skeleton.

"Healthy Kids Day will help parents begin thinking early about what their kids need to stay physically and intellectually active in the summer," Dilazzaro said in the press release. "Summer is just around the corner and is an ideal time for kids to get out and grow so they are healthier and sharper when the next school year begins.
