State Budget Increases Funds For Westchester Infrastructure Repair

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - The 2013-2014 state budget includes about $13.7 million for infrastructure repairs in Westchester County through the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs), Assemblyman David Buchwald announced.

David Buchwald represents the 93rd Assembly District, which includes Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and White Plains.

This represents a more than 20 percent increase from last year and is the first increase in funding for the program in five years. It will go directly to municipalities in need of repairs on roads, highways and bridges.

Buchwald said the funding "gives the local economy a boost by supporting good-paying, local jobs."

The program received a $75 million increase in funding throughout the state.

The budget, expected to be also increases state aid for schools by $936.6 million to $21.1 billion. Buchwald announced the state aid awards for local schools in the 93rd Assembly District:

Bedford Central School District (CSD): $5,013,363, an increase of $545,328 or 12.21 percent
Byram Hills CSD: $2,627,102, an increase of $188,839 or 7.74 percent
Chappaqua CSD: $5,677,392, an increase of $886,664 over last year, or 18.51 percent
Harrison CSD: $3,244,874, an increase of $98,175 or 3.12 percent
Katonah-Lewisboro CSD: $5,827,517, an increase of $709,468 or 13.86 percent
North Salem CSD: $1,894,231, an increase of $277,332 over last year or 17.15 percent
White Plains CSD: $15,287,127, an increase of $1,331,926 or 9.54 percent.
