Almost one-third of the 45 local governments gave increases in pay to the supervisor or mayor, council members or trustees and in some cases both for the first time in many years, reported lohud.com. More than policymakers, raises came to non-union management, clerks and local judges, according to lohud.com. This is a change to the more frugal spending of recent years and could be a sign officials believe the worst of their financial problems are in the past, said lohud.com.
Raises ranged from $60 annually for Mamaroneck town board members to $10,000 for the Yonkers City Council, already the highest paid local lawmakers in the county before with base salaries of $48,000, according to lohud.com.
