In his comments to the news outlet, Cuomo -- whose signature piece of gun control legislation, the SAFE Act, was passed soon after the Newtown, Connecticut, shootings -- referred to gun violence in America as a "sickness," and questioned when the U.S. Congress will pass a "sensible" law.
According to media reports, a 20-year-old gunman killed at least 10 people Thursday in a mass shooting at Umpqua Community College.
Authorities have said that the shooter, too, was killed. Several others were wounded in the attack, according to reports.
