Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is looking to pay tribute to one of his predecessors.
Astorino is proposing to name the airport terminal at Westchester County Airport after former County Executive Andrew O' Rourke. O'Rourke served as county executive from 1983 to 1997. and unsuccessfully challenged Mario Cuomo for governor in 1986. He died in 2013 at the age of 79. Astorino sent his proposal to the Board of Legislators.
This is not the first time Astorino has sought to pay tribute to a former county executive. Muscott Farm was renamed Alfred DelBello Muscoot Farm Park in honor of the former county executive last year.
