The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. near a residence at 313 West Hartsdale Avenue (Route 100A), police said.
Arriving officers found a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country operated by Michelle Bonet, 43, of White Plains and a Lexus E35 operated by Carmelo Sbezzi, 80, of Tarrytown and his wife Henrietta, 82, a passenger in the vehicle, had collided head on.
Greenburgh EMS treated and transported the three occupants with serious injuries to the Westchester County Medical Center where Henrietta succumbed to her injuries. A short while later her husband Carmelo was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Bonet was admitted to the hospital with injuries she sustained in the crash. She was also placed under arrest and charged with vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, a Class C felony, and was awaiting arraignment on the charge. No further details on the charges have been released.
Route 100A was closed through the afternoon and into the evening Friday for an investigation of the crash.
Greenburgh Detectives are continuing the investigation in conjunction with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
