White Plains Police: Husband Charged In Assault

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man turned himself in after he was accused of  pushing and slapping his wife early Sunday morning, police said.

Mauricio Valencia, 34, was charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

Police responded to the couple’s Charles Street home just before 2 a.m. The woman, 23, told police that she, her husband and two children went to a birthday party Saturday night.

When they returned home at midnight, Valencia confronted her about an unknown man at the party who asked her to dance. She declined, but Valencia was upset about it, and grabbed her arm and pushed her into a wall, according to the arrest report. He then slapped her on the left side of her face, according to the report.

The victim sustained a bruise to her left arm and under her eye, the report says.

At around 2 a.m., Valencia turned himself in at the White Plains Public Safety Department’s night window. He refused to give a statement to plolice
