White Plains Police Charge Man For Drug Possession

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Stamford, Conn. resident was stopped by the White Plains Police Department Friday at 2:33 a.m. for drinking out of an open beer can and later charged with criminal possession of crack-cocaine, a misdemeanor, police said.

Irving Diaz, 23, of 30 Dolsen Place, was walking south on Mamaroneck Avenue when officers saw him drinking the beer, police said. As officers approached Diaz to speak with him, police said he tried to hide the can.

While searching Diaz, the officers found a bag with apparent crack-cocaine and four small capsules filled with a white powdery substance, police said. Diaz told police that the substance was crack-cocaine, police said.

Diaz was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and having an open alcoholic container, which is a violation. He was released on $250 bail and is scheduled to appear in city court on Oct. 11.
