In the scam, a caller claims to work for a local branch of "ObamaCare Services" to discuss the recipient's options and avoiding tax concerns.
An actual representative would not use the term "ObamaCare" when referencing the Affordable Care Act.
Residents are advised to never give their social security number, banking information, date of birth or other personal information to anyone over the phone.
Citizens should be cautious over common scam tactics such as not providing a legitimate address or phone number, demand immediate payment or payment via cash, wire transfer or money card or allege that money must be sent to collect a prize.
