WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains teenager detained for shoplifting by security at Target in the City Center was carrying a BB gun in his backpack, according to a police report.

Target dropped charges for shoplifting after the youth returned the store’s property, but told police that when they stopped him Monday afternoon, he had a Pietro Beretta BB handgun and an opened package of 350 4.5 millimeter BBs.

Police charged the teen as a juvenile with unlawful possession of a weapon for a youth under the age of 16.

He was released to his mother, and is due in family court.
