Police: White Plains Man Chokes Ex After Break-Up, In Front Of Kids

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A break-up turned bad for a Yonkers woman, who told White Plains police her now ex-boyfriend knocked her to the floor and began choking her in front of their two children, according to a police report.

Kevin Barksdale, of 225 Martine Luther King Boulevard, was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.

The victim, 31, told police responding to a report of a domestic dispute that she was visiting Barksdale, 22, for the Labor Day weekend. She told police they began arguing Sunday night after telling him she wanted to break up. The fight continued Monday afternoon, at which point Barksdale became physical with her, police said.

The victim told police Barksdale began to push and shove her, knocking her to the floor. He then got on top of her and began to choke her, the report says. The victim’s aunt, also at Barksdale’s apartment, grabbed him and separated the two.

Barksdale then left, the report says. The victim called police and gave a description of him. Shortly after, police found Barksdale in the area of Ferris Avenue and arrested him. Child Protective Services was contacted.

The victim refused medical attention for bruising to the neck.
