Police: White Plains Fall A Possible Suicide

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A 54-year-old Mount Vernon woman fell from the third-story outdoor cafe at Nordstrom in the Westchester Mall on Thursday afternoon, and police said they are investigating it as a possible suicide.

UPDATE: Police identified the Mount Vernon woman who fell to her death in an apparent suicide Thursday afternoon as Catherine Guarnieri.

The woman, whose identity is being withheld by police, was found injured on the sidewalk near the corner of Bloomindgale Road and Westchester Avenue around 3:20 p.m. She was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead at 3:24 p.m., Detective Lt. Eric Fischer, of the White Plains Police Department, said. 

A medical examiner's report is expected to be completed early next week, Fischer said. 

Police taped off Bloomingdale Road to southbound traffic near Westchester Avenue while investigating the incident.
