Police Investigate Cars Spray Painted By Vandals

GREENBURGH, N.Y -- Police are investigating an incident involving the spray painting of several cars in Greenburgh early Wednesday.

At about 1:30 a.m, Greenburgh police responded to a home located in the vicinity of County Center Road to investigate a complaint of criminal mischief. 

Police officers observed three motor vehicles that were parked in the driveway, heavily damaged with graffiti from spray paint.

The damage to the vehicles exceeds the $1,500 minimum, making it a Class D felony, police said.

Patrol officers canvassed the area to locate any potential evidence and possible suspects. 

A can of spray paint was recovered nearby and secured by police as possible evidence. Officers also detected an odor of gasoline emanating in the vicinity of the home and located an empty gasoline can, and a gasoline soaked blanket in an adjacent yard. It is unknown if these items are connected to the incident, according to Captain B.J. Ryan of Greenburgh's Detective Division.

Greenburgh detectives responded to the location to conduct a follow-up investigation, photograph the crime scene and collect evidence. 

Greenburgh police are seeking the public’s assistance in this case and are asking anyone who may have witnessed
