New York City fire crews continue to fight the blaze and search for survivors following the 9:30 a.m. explosion, according to various news reports.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown, but multiple reports say natural gas may have been involved.
Law enforcement has said terror is not believed to be involved.
Two people, both women, have died, WABC reported at 11:50 a.m. There are 16 people with injuries reported, according to news reports.
The blaze is a five-alarm fire, according to the FDNY Twitter feed.
Due to the proximity to the Metro-North train tracks, the MTA has released the following statement:
"All train service into and out of Grand Central Terminal is temporarily suspended until further notice due to a building explosion adjacent to our tracks. Please listen for announcements at your station, listen to the media and check back here for updates/alternate service information."
Debris from the explosion is covering the Metro-North tracks and will take time to remove, according to multiple reports.
