Men Charged With Theft, Marijuana Possession In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Two New Rochelle men charged with stealing $90.98 in merchandise from Sears also had marijuana in their possession, police said.

Store security told police one of the suspects, 28, took one belt, two pairs of underwear and one pair of socks worth $54.98, and the other, 18, took two T-shirts worth $36 on Saturday afternoon, police said. Both tried to hide the merchandise in their possession and leave the store, police said. Store security stopped them and recovered the items, according to the police report.

Both were arrested and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Police searched the 28-year-old suspect and found a clear ziplock bag with what police believed to be marijuana. He also had a pair of American Eagle jeans, for which he had no receipt. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Each man was released on $500 bail.
