Man Charged With Macy's Shoplifting Had Been Barred

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Valhalla man was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Macy’s in the Galleria Mall, which had barred him from the store in May, according to a police report.

Robert Verga, 56, wasa charged with petit larceny and third-degree criminal trespassing, both misdemeanors, on Aug. 31.

Store security told police the Operations Drive resident entered the department store and took one Club Room rugby T-shirt worth $49 and one pair of socks worth $19.98, then went into a fitting room. He was seen leaving the fitting room, then the store, at which point security stopped him and held him for police.

Verga had been barred from all Macy’s stores May 22 as a result of another incident, according to the report.
