WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Two Rockville Centre men were sentenced to 75 years to life for killing a woman and shooting her husband and young daughter, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Tuesday.
Charles Parsley, 28, and Kasaun White, 29, were convicted in March on two counts of second-degree murder, a class A felony; one count of second-degree attempted murder, a class B felony; one count of first-degree assault, a class B felony; and one count of first-degree burglary, a class B felony.
Police said that on the night of April 21, 2010, one of the defendants posed as a delivery man with a package for Sandra Hackley in order to get into her apartment. He was caught on video surveillance wearing a United States Postal Service-type shirt.
Officials said that when Hackley's husband opened the door, the two men shot him multiple times as he stood in the doorway. They also shot Hackley five times in the living room; Hackley's daughter, 12, was also shot once in the leg. Hackley died on the scene.
The two gunmen ran out the front door and onto Yonkers Avenue, where they were seen getting into a dark-colored pickup truck that sped away, police said.
Yonkers police began an investigation that led them to the two defendants in Nassau County.
Police arrested a third suspect from Uniondale, N.Y. in connection with the incident; he is still waiting to go to trial. English Thomas, 28, also faces two counts of second-degree murder, one count of second-degree attempted murder, and one count of first-degree burglary. He also faces three counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C `felony; and one count of tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.
Assistant District Attorney Fredric I. Green and Assistant District Attorney Julia Cornachio of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
