Thomas J. McCormack, White Plains WWII Veteran

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Thomas J. McCormack of White Plains died March 20. He was 86.

McCormack was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Manhattan to Beatrice Mahon and Michael McCormack. He graduated from St. Gregory the Great Grammar School and Power Memorial High School.

McCormack was drafted into the Army during World War II and served in the 13th Engineer Combat Construction Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, tank Corp in Korea. He attained the rank of Sgt. first class.

In 1949, McCormack graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He received a master's degree from New York University in Civil Engineering.

During the 1960's, McCormack and partner Bill Morse formed Morse-McCormack, Inc. in Port Chester and served as manufacturer representatives for environmental equipment.

He was a life member of American Society of Civil Engineers, The Water Environmental Federation and member of the National Association of Professional Engineers and American Water Works.

McCormack was a founding member of the Church of St. Pius X in Scarsdale and was a past president of the Men's and Dad's Clubs.

McCormack is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Michael ( Mary) of Maynard, Mass., Melissa ( John) of Tewksbury, N.J., Thomas( Mariana) of White Plains, and David ( Nora) of Scituate, Mass.; and nine grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains. Funeral Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. St Pius X Church, 91 Secor Road, Scarsdale, N.Y. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 575 Hillside Ave, White Plains.
