Collins was born March 6, 1931, in New York City, to Michael and Mary (Riordan) Collins. He was a member of the Christian Brothers of Ireland. He left to become a teacher at White Plains High School and taught until his retirement in 1996.
Collins is survived by his wife, Catherine; and son, Michael Collins of Silver Spring, Md. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Jack; and sister, Catherine.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 2 to 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with interment to follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery.
