White Plains Y Keeps Kids Active, Raises Funds

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Children played Frisbee, rode tricycles and had their faces painted on Healthy Kids Day at the White Plains YMCA, according to a press release.

Healthy Kids Day is a national initiative held by 1,900 participating YMCAs, which hope to kick-start physical activity and learning for kids during the summer months.

One of the activities for adults included the Drive and Ride Event, sponsored by White Plains Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Dodge donated $20 for every test drive taken and raised nearly $2,500 to support the Strong Kids Campaign, which helps families with the cost of summer camp, early child car and after school programs.

"Healthy Kids Day will help parents begin thinking early about what their kids need to stay physically and intellectually active in the summer," Linda Dilazzaro of the White Plains YMCA said in a press release. "Summer is just around the corner and is an ideal time for kids to get out and grow so they are healthier and sharper when the next school year begins.
