White Plains Teen Stable After Stabbing

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A White Plains teen is in serious but stable condition and a second White Plains woman has been released from the hospital after police say the two 18-year-olds were stabbed and slashed with a box cutter near the bus stop at Martine and Mamaroneck avenues Monday night.

Police were called to White Plains Hospital around 7 p.m. Monday where one White Plains 18-year-old required emergency surgery. A second White Plains 18-year-old was treated for less serious but "substantial wounds" and has since been released from the hospital.

Detectives believe the White Plains women were confronted by Christina Hernandez, 18, of Thornwood, who the teens have had a dispute with since high school.

Witness accounts helped detectives identify and find Hernandez near 325 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains by around midnight Monday.

Police have not released the identity of the victims because detectives are still investigating the assault.
