The video, the third in a series aimed at teachers unions in New York, was released on Thursday and features several teachers union representatives, including White Plains Teachers Association President Caireen Broderick.
The videographer, while posing as a friend of a teacher who struck a child “about a month ago,” claims that the incident was never reported, according to the video.
In a response that also appears to be edited, Broderick, calls the unreported incident a “non-issue,” after telling the videographer that the teacher should “let it go.”
“Hopefully she’s learned her lesson … and she’s never going to do what she did again,” Broderick says on the recording.
News 12 screened the video for several people on the streets of White Plains, at least one of whom – after learning the work was connected to James O’Keefe, a controversial, conservative “journalist” – dismissed the video as politically driven.
Broderick later told News 12 that the edited video did not include comments she made stressing the importance of student safety and high ethics in the classroom. According to News 12, Broderick also said she had instructed many adults who do not belong in the classroom to leave the profession.
Part III of the video series comes just weeks after the release of another undercover video from someone posing as a teacher appeared to show Yonkers Federation of Teachers President Pat Puleo and Vice President Paul Diamond discussing ways to cover up hitting a child in the classroom.
That video has led to Yonkers officials calling for the resignation of both Diamond and Puleo and had moved the American Federation of Teachers to hire a specialist to investigate Diamond and Puleo.
