WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Ebony Morris, 30, of Mount Vernon, was arrested Tuesday after ShopRite loss prevention staff said the cashier stuffed a ShopRite bag with about $40 worth of groceries, hid the bag under a register and then left without paying, police said.
Morris was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

- Police said they spotted an 18-year-old White Plains man fingering a hand-rolled marijuana cigarette behind the wheel of a 2006 Chevrolet Tuesday.
When officers approached the car parked on Woodcrest Avenue, the teen dropped a bag of marijuana near his feet.
Police said they recovered the bag and arrested the man. He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
