White Plains PD: Man Menaced Deli With Air Gun

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Police sent to an E. Post Road deli Saturday night on a report of a man threatening to murder a customer said they found an air gun tucked in the waistband of the 39-year-old White Plains man.

Juan Espana-Espana told a man in the Cancun Deli he was going to kill him with a gun, according to police.

Officers found Espana-Espana facing a clerk at the deli and grabbed him from behind. They uncovered a black plastic Powerline 701 pellet gun in his pants and 54 gray metal pellets, according to police. 

Espana-Espana was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

- A 25-year-old Bronx man was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor assault after police called to the Coach Diner early Sunday morning said Christopher Munoz chucked food and ceramic plates at a 32-year-old Yonkers diner.

- A 26-year-old Norwalk, Conn. man charged with driving while ability impaired told police who pulled him over he had "just one blunt" on the way to White Plains, according to police reports.

The man failed sobriety tests performed on the corner of Waller Avenue and Lyon Place, according to police.

Officers said they then found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette on the floor of his 1993 Honda Civic.

- Johnson Samuel, 25, of Orangeburg, N.Y., was charged with a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated after police said they stopped him because beads hanging from the mirror were obstructing his view early Saturday morning.

Police said they noticed the stench of alcohol on Samuel's breath and asked him to perform sobriety tests, which he failed. At headquarters, officers said Samuel blew a .11 on a Breathalyzer.

- Police said they pulled over Pedro Caraballo late Sunday night because his headlight wasn't working and he was swerving between lanes. A Breathalyzer showed Caraballo, 62, of White Plains, had a blood alcohol content level of .12, according to police. He was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
