WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Police say they arrested a White Plains man after he chocked his girlfriend while she was leaving their Chatterton Avenue home for work Saturday morning.
The victim told officers that Gustavo Vincuna-Vazquez grabbed the back of her head when she stepped out of the bedroom at 8:34 a.m. He slammed her to the ground and wrapped both hands around her neck, chocking her until she struggled to breath, according to police.
Officers say the woman's 5-year-old and 14-month-old children witnessed the violence.
Vincuna-Vazquez was charged with second-degree strangulation, a felony, third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

- Bloomingdale's loss prevention detained Jenelle Gooden, 25, of the Bronx on Saturday and told police the sales associate stole $2,614.62 worth of gift cards from the Westchester Mall store.
Police say Gooden signed a statement admitting to the theft. She also said she would repay Bloomingdale's. Gooden was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.
- Police say they had to shackle a White Plains mans legs after he attempted to kick out squad car windows on the way to headquarters and had to be carried inside because he kept trying to strike officers with his feet.
Officers say they noticed David Alonso, 20, screaming profanities, and flailing his arms at people walking past him on Mamaroneck Avenue at 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
Alonso ignored officers requests that he place his hands behind his back, and refused to get into the police car once handcuffed according to police.
Once officers got him inside, Alonso repeatedly tried to smash the rear windows of the squad car with his feet and head.
Alonso was arrested and charged with one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and one count of disorderly conduct.
