White Plains Hospital Sponsors AMA Heart Health Program

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Make over your heart by applying for the Go Red BetterU Makeover Challenge, a 12-week heart health program sponsored by White Plains Hospital.

There are 15 spots for Westchester County women. The deadline to apply is Jan. 17, and applications can be done online.

The American Heart Association will conduct the program, designed to improve the 15 participants’ heart health and remind all women to make healthy lifestyle choices to reduce their risk of heart disease, which kills one in three women. Simple lifestyle choices involving diet, exercise and smoking can help prevent 80 percent of cardiac events, according to United HealthCare.

"Our goal is to make heart health a priority for local women by demonstrating that small changes can improve heart health in a big way,” said Dawn French, vice president of community relations and marketing at White Plains Hospital.

The 15 women chosen will get free counseling on nutritional and cardiovascular health from White Plains Hospital. They will also get a free gym membership with training session from Will2Lose in Scarsdale.

The BetterU 12-week program runs from Jan. 31 through April 19.
