Wolfe, a a New York City-based organist, choral conductor and music educator, joins First Baptist Church of White Plains as interim music director on Tuesday with his first Sunday on Oct. 20, according to a news release from the church.
"John has earned favorable reviews in The New York Times and Time Out New York as a featured performer in the Prism Concert Series at Central Synagogue and in T.S. Eliot’s "Murder in the Cathedral" at St. Joseph’s Church of Our Lord," representatives said in the release. "Prior to joining First Baptist, John was minister of music at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Christ in Rosedale, Queens and choir director at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Coney Island."
Wolfe is also on the executive board of the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and an honors graduate of Vassar College, according to the release.
