Cops: White Plains Cashier Uses Sears Register as ATM

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A cashier at Sears department store in the Galleria at White Plains has stolen $600 from his register over the last six months, according to a police report.

A guard at the 100 Main Street store told police April 16 that the Bronx man, 27, stole cash in denominations of $10 and $20 from his assigned register on 13 separate occasions between Nov. 1 and April 16. The police reports says he admits to the crime in a statement of the incident, which he signed and gave to Sears.

Police arrested the cashier and charged him with petit larceny and are holding him for court because he was unable to post $500 bail. Sears is pursuing charges and an investigation.
