WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Police were called to an E. Post Road bar after a bouncer told officers a White Plains man he kicked out returned with a nickel-plated handgun.
A Jackie Blue bouncer told police he got into an altercation with Andre Riley, 26, of White Plains, and kicked him out of the bar. Riley returned with two friends around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. According to police reports, Riley rapped a handgun against the window to get the attention of the employee who barred him from re-entering.
He was asked to leave again and began walking up E. Post Road with his friends.
Police caught up with the three at 144 E. Post Rd. Riley took off running, while his two friends stopped and complied with officers' requests.
Riley dropped a bag on the intersection of E. Post Road and Court Street while fleeing. Officers who picked up the clear bag said it contained a greenish-brown substance they believe was marijuana.
Police caught up with him where E. Post Rd. hits Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and grappled with Riley, who officers say resisted arrest. He was handcuffed only after police tackled him on the ground.
Although officers found no gun on Riley or near where they chased him, they did find two bags of what they think is crack-cocaine on Riley.
Riley was arrested and brought to police headquarters where a bouncer identified him as the man who brought a gun near the bar.
Riley spontaneously told officers, "I didn't have no gun. I only raised my shirt and motioned as to having a gun," according to police reports.
He was charged with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, one count of unlawful possession of marijuana, and one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
