WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A Bronx man who worked at the Westchester Mall Abercrombie & Fitch was arrested and charged with three felonies after store employees told police they'd seen him swindle nearly $5,000 in goods during "pass through transactions."
Police met Nicholas Avila, 19, at the Abercrombie store just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Loss prevention staff told officers Avila stole $1,688 worth of goods on Dec. 22, $1,154 worth of merchandise on Oct. 11, and $802 in Abercrombie gear on Aug. 24 using fake transactions.
Avila was charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and one count of petite larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released on a $250 bail.

- Officers said they noticed an odor of marijuana wafting from a brown Honda Civic parked in the 20 Mitchell Ave. lot, which led to two drug-related arrests Thursday.
Although the three occupants of the Honda told police that they didn't have marijuana on them, police say they found a glass pipe containing what they believe to be marijuana on a 21-year-old Ossining man.
He was arrested and charged with one count of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Police say they also recovered two yellow tablets that appear to be clozapine in the pants pocket of John Zapata, 21. He was arrested and charged with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
- Lawrence "Gagy" Johnson, 52, of White Plains, was arrested and charged with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, after the narcotics unit said they discovered a glass pipe with reside from what appears to be crack cocaine in his jacket pocket Thursday.
- A White Plains man was arrested after police say they found more than 50 grams of cocaine on him Thursday.
Fermin Peralta, 35, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
