Westchester has a dueling real estate market with third-quarter sales breaking records while at the same time an increasing number of homeowners are struggling to keep their homes, according to lohud.com.

Westchester County Clerk Timothy Idoni said foreclosures are surging toward a record high in the county and are part of a trend statewide, lohud.com said.

Rockland, which is now No. 3 in the state with pending foreclosures, is seeing a similar trend, the story said. Since January, there have been 1,091 filings, with 369 foreclosure judgments, according to the Rockland County Clerk's Office, lohud.com said.

Idoni's office said 1,697 foreclosure actions were filed between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30, the story said. However, the number of foreclosures that actually forced Westchester homeowners out of their homes was 871 for the first nine months of the year, well ahead of the 772 foreclosure judgments for all of 2014, lohud.com reported.
