Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday that shooter 22-year-old Aaron George and his getaway driver, Michael Djukic, 21, have been sentenced after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges earlier this year.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17 last year, George and Djukic traveled to an apartment complex on North Kensico Avenue in White Plains, with the latter as the driver. The two proceeded to drive around the area for “a period of time” while they searched for their victim.
According to Scarpino, the two proceeded to wait in the vehicle until their victim approached. George then got out of the car, fired a handgun multiple times at him, striking his victim several times. George then returned to the car and Djukic allegedly sped off. Their victim was taken to the Westchester Medical Center and died in surgery.
George was sentenced to a term of between 17 years and life in prison after pleading guilty to felony charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Djukic faces a maximum of nine years after pleading guilty to attempted criminal facilitation and hindering prosecution, both felonies.
Both men have been remanded into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections.
