Travel Ban Lifted In Westchester; Metro-North Service Resumes

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- With the impact of the Nor'easter significantly less than originally forecast, the travel ban in Westchester County, several other counties and New York City was lifted at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The travel ban for non-emergency vehicles was also lifted in New York City as well as Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Nassau counties as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The travel ban went into effect at 11 p.m. Monday.

Metro-North service also resume Tuesday morning and is running on a Sunday schedule for the remainder of the day.

While the snow has moved east throughout most of the area, wind chills will be frigid and gusty winds will lead to blustery conditions and blowing snow.

Many roads in the area remain slippery and hazardous and residents are still advised to avoid unnecessary travel. Gov. Andrew Cuomo advised motorists to stay off the roads after lifting the travel ban.

"The roads are still dangerous," he said.
