Thousands of Westchester County residents find themselves losing power, as the latest batch of winter weather batters the region.
Just under 16,000 were without power in Westchester at 3:30 p.m., with a total of about 4,800 of those outages in Yonkers and New Rochelle.
Greenburgh was one of the hardest hit in the morning, with 48 customers reporting service interruptions before 9 a.m., with no estimated time of restoration. Yonkers, (19 customers), Eastchester (one) and Mount Vernon (nine) have also been affected in the first round of snow in southern Westchester.
According to the National Weather Service, winds are expected to reach up to 50 mph, with a mix of snow and rain in the area over the afternoon. Less than two inches of snow are expected to accumulate.
