“The combination of Northwesterly winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, relative humidity levels dropping between 20 and 30 percent and dry fine fuels will result in conditions favorable for the spread of brush fires,” the National Weather Service said in a Special Weather Statement issued Wednesday morning. “Residents should keep vehicles out of grassy areas and ensure proper disposal of any smoking materials. It only takes a carelessly disposed cigarette to ignite a fire.”
The Wind Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
It will be mostly cloudy during the morning Wednesday, becoming sunny in the afternoon, with high temperatures reaching 35 to 37 degrees, but because of the wind-chill factor, it will feel more like between 10 and 20 degrees.
After a cold overnight with lows between 15 and 17 degrees, Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high in the lowers 40s.
