Punxsutawney Phil Predicts An Early Spring

It didn't take a groundhog to tell us what we already know: warmer weather is upon us.

An early spring is upon us, according to Punxsutawney Phil.

Punxsutawney Phil, the longtime Pennsylvania predictor of "Will we or won't we see more winter?" did not see his shadow this morning — Groundhog Day — meaning the country is in for an early spring.

According to long-held folklore, if Phil sees his shadow, he'll be frightened and rush back into his burrow, signaling six more weeks of winter. If he fails to see his shadow, a warmer weather pattern is predicted.

And Phil's not alone. Staten Island Chuck also did not see his shadow.

According to USA Today, the famous groundhog (Phil, not Chuck) has been "right" 13 times and "wrong" 15 times, since 1988.
