WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Target employees alerted police last weekend after they saw a White Plains man pry open a knife box and then use the utensil to cut open a cell phone box.
Both a sales associate and a Target employee watching surveillance cameras told officers they saw Dennis Graham, 43, open a knife box and take a blue-handled utensil to the electronics department, where he alledgedly unpackaged a Net10 smartphone.
Graham then pocketed the phone and left Target, according to police reports. Officers stopped Graham on the escalator leading up to the City Center lobby. Police said they found the $41.98 phone and the blue-handled knife on Graham in addition to an orange-handled knife stuffed in his rear pants pocket. Graham was arrested and charged with one count of petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and one count of criminal possession of an anti-security item, a misdemeanor.

- A Sleepy Hollow man was arrested after police said he attacked a man near the Lazy Boy Saloon early Saturday morning. A little while after bars closed Saturday, a crowd formed near the intersection of Mamaroneck Avenue and E. Post Road, where officers said they noticed some pushing. According to police reports, Maurice Mayo then ran east across Mamaroneck Avenue and punched a man in the head, knocking him to the ground. Mayo, 20, was arrested and charged with one count of disorderly conduct.
- White Plains police are reviewing surveillance tapes and transaction receipts from the Westchester Mall Nordstrom. After a West End, N.Y. resident left her American Express card at the register Saturday afternoon, a Nordstrom loss prevention employee told officers he saw a different woman buy a $35.15 pair of shoes using the credit card.
