WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- An unidentified passenger was killed and the driver of an SUV seriously injured early Monday morning when the vehicle slammed into a tree on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, according to authorities.

Further details of the single-vehicle crash, which occurred around 4 a.m., have not been released.

The crash and subsequent investigation resulted in the closure of Mamaroneck Avenue between Rutherford Street and Livingston Avenue.
