Officer Kicked as Woman Refuses to Leave Hospital

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A Mount Vernon woman made herself at home in the White Plains Hospital, a little bit too much at home, according to Friday's police reports.

White Plains officers were called to the hospital when staff reported that Samantha McKenzie, 24, refused to leave the emergency room.

Employees told police that McKenzie complained about a headache when she came into the emergency room around 2 a.m. Friday. However, she refused treatment from hospital staff several times, according to police reports.

McKenzie didn't budge when hospital employees informed her that she had to leave the emergency room unless she wanted medical treatment.

She told staff, "I am not going anywhere. I am staying right here," according to police reports.

Police said McKenzie wasn't any more responsive to their requests. Officers said when they began arresting her, McKenzie flailed her arms in an attempt to prevent them from handcuffing her.

While McKenzie was being escorted out of the hospital, police said she kicked an officer in the groin and scratched his pinky.

McKenzie, who initially refused to describe her identity to officers, was arrested and charged with one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and one count of trespassing.
