New Planet 10 Times Earth's Size May Lie Beyond Pluto

Just as society was moving on from the Pluto situation, one of the astronomers who helped demote the former planet is claiming to have found evidence of a new planet within our solar system to take its place, according to npr.org.

NASA’s Director of Planetary Science, Jim Green, discusses the Jan. 20 Astronomical Journal science paper that points to the possibility of a new “Planet 9” in our solar system beyond Pluto.

Mike Brown, a scientist at Caltech, says the undiscovered planet is bigger than Earth and orbiting at the most distant reaches of our solar system, according to npr.org.

Brown, an experienced astronomer, previously discovered Eris, a body larger than Pluto that didn't quite make it planethood, and Sedna, a dwarf planet deep in space, according to npr.org.
