Heat, Round Of Storms Will Mark Workweek In White Plains

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Potentially record-breaking heat will continue before a round of rain and potential storms brings a cooling trend to Westchester County this week, according to the National Weather Service.

The 97-degree reading Tuesday in Central Park was the highest for a September day since 1983.

After temperatures surpassed the 90-degree mark throughout the area Tuesday, the heat will be on once again Wednesday.

It will be mostly sunny once again, but temperatures will be slightly cooler with a high around 85 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms will begin to move into the area overnight. 

The chance for precipitation becomes much more likely on Thursday with highs in the low 80s and a 70 precent chance of rain and storms. 

Showers could linger on Friday morning, but skies will clear into the afternoon with a high of 81 degrees.
