WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Two White Plains businesses came to police Tuesday after owners returned from the weekend to shattered glass.
The owner of Salon Diva noticed a spider web shaped crack in the shop's glass door Monday. She said was unable to alert police until Tuesday afternoon. Officers then examined the damage at the Mamaroneck Ave. salon and said the glass appeared to have broken by a punch or thrown object.
The owner estimated it would cost $500 to replace the door.
Police were also called to La Villa restaurant Tuesday after the restaurant owner
The owner of La Villa, on West Post Road, alerted police after he discovered a broken window Tuesday morning. He guessed it would cost $600 to replace.
Also from the police blotter:
- Officers arrested a White Plains man after Sears security reported that he walked past the cash registers without paying for $229.92 in watches. Scott Garland, 50, was charged with one count of petty larceny, a misdemeanor, Tuesday afternoon.
- A few hours later, police were called back to Sears where employees said a Bronx man stuffed 39 belts into a shopping bag and left the store. Isabelo Miranda, 45, took $1,014 worth of men's structure belts, according to police reports.
Miranda was arrested and charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, a misdemeanor.
