Friday Likely A Washout In White Plains With Potential Flooding

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- More than 2 inches of rain could fall on Westchester County on Friday into Saturday as a huge system that has soaked the Midwest and Appalachia moves into the area, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain will likely fall throughout the day on Friday and could get heavier and bring flooding to Westchester County as the day goes on.

The first band of rain is likely to move across the county late Thursday into Friday as temperatures will reach the high 60's, according to the forecast.

The rain is likely to turn into downpours starting on Friday afternoon and could trigger a flood watch. Most of the Appalachian region is under a flood watch on Thursday as the storm slowly moves northeast, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will reportedly pick up overnight as well with gusts up to 30 mph.

Despite the projected heavy rain, the county will likely avoid any severe thunderstorms, according to the forecast.

The rain will likely taper off by Saturday morning and a sunny weekend with highs in the low to mid 70's is forecast to follow.
