Exotic Fennec Fox Goes Missing In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains residents are on the lookout for a missing exotic pet that has gone missing from a family's home, according to reports.

The pet is a fennec fox named Luna, a species that is found mainly in the Sahara Desert in Northern Africa, according to CBS New York. Fennec foxes are the smallest fox species.

Luna ran off from the Lee family home in the Highlands neighborhood in White Plains, according to lohud.com.

Fennec foxes, who are considered extremely shy and known for their large ears and slight weight (between 1.5 and 3.5 pounds), have been bred in the U.S. since the 1970s.
