WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore is issuing a community alert to notify senior citizens to be cautious when it comes to hiring caregivers.
DiFiore advises that financial elder abuse is on the rise. “A caregiver can be a ‘Thief in Disguise’ and the elderly are often taken advantage of by the very people hired to care for them.” She notes most are dedicated to helping their clients, but some use these jobs to take advantage of clients.
