Dead Gorilla Harambe For President? Some Voters Are On Board

When a dead gorilla is put on the presidential election ballot, he pulls in more votes than undecided and the Green Party but less than giant meteor, according to a national survey by the Public Policy Polling.

Harambe pulled in a solid 5 percent of the votes for US President, despite the fact he was shot and killed in May.

Harambe was shot after he grabbed and dragged a boy that he fell into the moat at the Cincinnati Zoo. Some say he was trying to protect the boy, not harm him.

Five percent of voters surveyed would vote for Harmbe as President of the United States, despite his obvious setbacks: he's a gorilla, and he's a dead one at that.

Harambe also got more votes than Green Party candidate Jill Stein (2 percent) and just slightly less than Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson (6 percent), according to the survey, which was released on July 30.

Harambe is also less hated (27 percent) than Trump (58 percent) and Clinton (51 percent).

Conservatives hated Harambe the most, with 38 percent giving him an unfavorable response. Liberal voters love him, with 8 percent responding favorable.

Harambe did lose out to a giant meteor. Thirteen percent of voters prefer a meteor for president over Trump or. Clinton.

Harambe's claim to fame stems from an incident at the Cincinnati Zoo when a 3-year-old boy got into the gorilla's enclosure. A zoo official shot and killed the endangered animal, fearing for the child's life.
