Bronx resident Jamil Fields is scheduled to be arraigned in Westchester County Court on Wednesday after being indicted on felony charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault and multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
State Police troopers were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-95, between Exit 18B and 19, at approximately 5:50 p.m. on July 18, following reports of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, they found a 24-year-old man in a GMC U-Haul who had suffered injuries, including gunshot wounds.
Fields’ alleged victim was shot multiple times in the chest, torso and lower chest. The incident led to a lengthy closure of I-95 during rush hour. His victim was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx in critical condition, but he survived his injuries.
Fields is currently being held without bail at the Westchester County Jail. He reportedly previously served jail time for a first-degree assault conviction
