CDC: U.S. Death Rate Slowing Down After 2015 Jump

Death is on the decline once again, at least according to preliminary data for the first quarter of 2016 from the Centers for Disease Control, reports the New York Times.

The mortality rate went up in 2015, bucking the normal trend of decline, according to NYT.

Drug overdoses were up in 2015, a trend that's continued since the 1990s, and death due to heart disease didn't decline as it normally does, according to NYT.

Death rates for the first quarter of 2016 are down for diabetes and heart disease but numbers weren't available for drug overdoses, according to NYT.
